How to fill out a CV

We have put together a few guidelines for when you are preparing your CV

1)         Put your contact details at the top of the page, in the centre.

2)         These should include your Name, Address, Telephone Numbers – both home and mobile.

3)         You want to put some bold, short descriptions about yourself next like punctual, enthusiastic, reliable.

4)         Then put your work experience listed with the most recent first. Say who the company was, the address, a short description of your job  and job role and the dates that you were there from and to.

5)         Put in your education details next. The school or college you went to, its address and the dates that you were there from and to. Again put the most recent school or college that you attended first.

6)         Next put any courses that you have attended like a Health & Safety course or a First Aid course.

7)         At the end list in detail your qualifications, the ‘highest’ ones first.

8)         Finally put the names, addresses and telephone numbers of two ‘referees’ (people who know you like a teacher or tutor – make sure you have their permission)

Other points to consider.

Use a modern clear font like Arial.

Don’t use a font that is difficult to read.

Use white paper, don’t worry about coloured paper.

Make sure you use spell check.

If possible get a responsible person to proof read your CV.
