Role Description:

You will spend time in every area of the factory, working with engineers and operational team leaders. You will gain experience and expertise to carry out Planned/Preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and carrying out continuous improvement ideas within the manufacturing area to help the reduction of down time and increased productivity .

Duties will include:

  • The individual will be responsible for their safety and the safety of those they are working with according to the relevant procedures. This includes being aware of the risks of each task, and following the appropriate risk assessments
  • Assist the engineering team in completing all on-site preventative and general maintenance work timely, maintaining all equipment to the manufacturer’s recommendations, and ensuring all records are completed and up to date
  • Help the engineering team keep unplanned downtime related to mechanical and/or electrical failures to a minimum
  • Assist with unscheduled and emergency maintenance work and breakdowns, including fault finding and necessary repair; communicate unscheduled downtime to the Engineering Manager
  • Ensure any breakdowns are reported and recorded to failure mode level, enabling completion of effective analysis and implementation of appropriate counter measures
  • Be proactive in predicting, detecting, and diagnosing potential and existing electrical and mechanical problems on all equipment within limits set by your supervisor
  • Work proactively in teams with other engineers, team leaders, or operators to identify issues and faults, solve problems, and increase the reliability, availability, and utilisation of the plant
  • Aid in the interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications when required to diagnose and resolve problems or when installing new equipment
  • Maintain factory services in excellent order, utilise 5S system, and ensure housekeeping is kept to the highest standard
  • Demonstrate commitment to Operating Procedures and continuous improvement processes


Desired skills

You must have:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's Grade 5 (C) or above, or equivalent or process a recognised Level 1 or 2 electrical and/or mechanical engineering qualification
  • Excellent written, verbal and numeracy skills, particularly databases and spreadhseets


Personal qualities

You must be:

  • Interested in pursuing a career in engineering with a strong interest in multi-skilled, electrical or mechanical fields
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work effectively within a team 
  • Motivated
  • Conscientious 


Desired qualifications

Minimum of 5 GCSE's Grade 5 (C) or above, or equivalent or process a recognised Level 1 or 2 electrical and/or mechanical engineering qualification.

Future Prospects:

This company are keen to take an apprentice on board in order to fully train and develop you to become an essential part of the engineering team. 

There may be the opportunity for further training and development once you have completed your Level 3 Apprenticeship programme.
