In light of the rapidly evolving national emergency in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and the latest announcements by HM Government we at NITAL have taken the decision to cease the delivery of face to face teaching at our facility in Kettering with immediate effect.

This has been a challenging decision as we are still awaiting clear guidance from the DfE and ESFA in relation to learner status during absence and on-going draw down of funding and we are working in the background to seek this clarity and any potential impact it may have on apprentices and employers alike, and will of course keep you updated on progress in the coming weeks.

What does this mean?

This means that from Monday 23rd of March there will be NO workshop or classroom based teaching taking place and as such apprentices are requested NOT to attend and we will be endeavouring to make contact with them all individually before the close of play tomorrow 20th March.

I have made arrangements for staff members to be on site next week in case any learners turn up and we can direct them accordingly as aback up measure.

What will we be doing?

Staff are currently developing resource material that will be delivered on-line from next week and apprentices will be contacted via OneFile, Email and Phone etc. to confirm arrangements for their on-line attendance.

This will be in place until the 3rd April when we were scheduled to close for the Easter break which will run until Monday 20th April, at this point and based on the then situation we will decide the next course of action, but in all likelihood this will be on-line delivery.

Also in addition to group teaching Individual apprentices will contacted by their assessors for on-going reviews which can be conducted remotely at an agreed point in time.

In the period up-to Easter where there are planned observation visits then individual assessors will contact you direct to discuss your preference for these taking place, post Easter these will cease and alternative solution sought.

What we ask of you?

During the transition phase pre-Easter please bear with us as we get to grips with technology and managing classes remotely, we will learn and evolve quickly.

One critical requirement will be that were required to attend on-line teaching by your apprentices, can I ask that you allow them the time to do so and also time to complete self-study that they will be set and this should equate to 20% of the working week circa 8 hours, we will need to record and evidence this and work with individual apprentices and employers to do so.
